July 17--
A car-bomb exploded outside a Civil Guard barracks in the town of Agreda in the province of Soria on Sunday, injuring one person in an attack blame on Euskadi Ta Askatasuna, officials said. The blast occurred just one day after a town councillor from Spain's ruling Popular Party was shot dead in the resort town of Malaga. The wife of a Civil Guard member was slightly injured by flying glass and was taken to a local hospital, according to police. The explosion damaged cars parked nearby and shattered windows in the area. The car-bomb, a Peugeot van presumably stolen in France, exploded at 2:45 pm in the back of the building. Sixteen people were reportedly inside the building when the car exploded, causing heavy structural damage.
